Who is Everett Meredith?

A hard worker from the start, Everett Meredith entered Western Maryland College in Westminster, Maryland. In college he studied his favorite subject, history. Mr. Meredith was independent and determined to succeed in life.

He supported his dream to learn by becoming an aluminum utensil salesman. As a dedicated salesman, he used his aluminum pots and pans to cook a meal for his appreciative clients at their house. His specialties were slow roasts and stews. He was a salesman that you could not refuse.

He graduated from college in 1930. He left his school as a fair, dedicated, open-minded, young professional. He made it a point to encourage people to become curious about the world around them.

After graduation Meredith accepted his first teaching positioning in East New Market, Maryland, just outside of Cambridge. His first teaching position in Delaware was within the Caesar Rodney School District. It was not until 1948 that Meredith began his life long tenure in Middletown as an educator and administrator.

During his time as an educator, Meredith sought to create an interesting, challenging, and accountable classroom. He expected his students to work hard, complete their homework, pay attention to details, and respect others. In addition, he taught and expected students to uncover truths, seek knowledge, and overwhelm themselves with a sense of pride and accomplishment.

In his lifetime Meredith was a well-known community leader, respected by everyone in the community. He had the ability to communicate, relate, and mediate with all people. We are honored to have his name as that of our school.
